Scoring the Player by Samantha Lind
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the second book in the Indianapolis Eagles series and each book can be read as a standalone; however, the secondary characters stories do continue in this book. One of the remarkable things though that I noticed while reading this book is that if you didn’t read book one, you pretty much got a full idea of Scott and Becca as some of the same events were discussed so you never felt lost. I will say though if you enjoyed getting to know their story, please do read book one as it is just as good as this book.
Brian lives up to his sports background as described by the media and he doesn’t have enough body parts to count the number of women he’s been with and he has no intention of settling down especially when you always must wonder are they with you for you or your status/money? Kinley is Becca’s BF and lives in Alaska. They meet while Brian is in town with Scott for the cup win celebration in Scott’s hometown. Kinley is a sweetheart and is tired of the wrong men, so she’s been steering clear of men in general. From the moment these two meet in Alaska they have an instant connection. They share the same thoughts, he isn’t looking to settle down and she is not looking for just a hook up, she wants a real relationship with a good man so friends they are. Why try to Score the Player, when the person who has become one of your best friends can be ruined by trying to take this to the next level?
Brian has become different since meeting Kinley and even his team mates have noticed a change in him for the good. Problemo though, the person who is holding your interest lives thousands of miles away and she isn’t looking for a relationship unless its serious. Can he get Kinley to see that he can be the person she sees hiding from the media? He gets a chance to show her that their friendship means something to him both from afar and when she comes to visit Becca in IN. Friendship is hard (pun intended) when someone is so close and feels so right just holding you without the passion involved. Wow, Brian definitely scores a win when it comes to holding back and it makes you fall in love with him at the same time. I loved how it wasn’t about the sex and he shows her other ways that he is all in. Tie in the game being tied with a possible OT when it comes to Brian and Kinley and you are cheering for the win, then sad for a loss. But, this makes the story that much more real cause this happens more than we care to see. I love how his actions are throughout the book and how Kinley pushes and pushes trying to avoid the inevitable between these two. Can he show her that one he can give up his player ways, two can he show her that a long-distance relationship can work and three can he get her to wear his jersey name instead of Scott’s name in the WAGS suite? Those are just some of the questions you will want to know reading this story.
The WAGS truly take you in their bunch and its nice to see that being who they are hasn’t change them or their players either. Love the bond between Scott, Brian and Murphy (man bonding and all) and add into Becca and Kinley’s friendship and this is true friendship and what makes are made for. I’m excited to see Murphy’s story and how his play turns in his upcoming book.

Review: Defying Gravity
Defying Gravity by Laura Farr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is book two in the Healing Hearts series and while each book can be read as a standalone you will see that Libby and Mason's storyline continues (characters from book one), but at no time are you felt lost if you picked this book up to read and haven’t read book one. This is Savannah and Josh’s story. After reading both books, I still cannot decide who I love the best as they are both good and you’ll love both set of characters.
Savannah oh Savannah, she puts on a good game face when it comes to Josh, her brother Brody’s BF. She’s been in love with him for years and she breaks a little more each day; however, a reckless void may not give her a chance to ever start their forever if she can get him to see her the way she wants him too. This decision may alter the game plan, but Josh is her greatest support person during this time. Confessions be darned because one confession just may derail another confession. Holy smack into a bale of hay and set it on fire when your heart is tested on this ranch.
Josh’s background on why he thought he was never good enough for Sav was heartbreaking. Awesome in a way, but bitter in other ways. I guess fates way of pulling two people who loved each other from afar all those years was the surprise from Savannah. In god's order this happened for a reason to give themselves something of their own miracle. Love that this didn't deter him from pursuing what was a long time in making coming. Grace, Josh’s moms action was understandable but thought that it would have been a blessing for her. Took a twister to get her to see the light.
This story is not only about defying Gravity but defying the odds in getting a second chance at life and love and knowing that with hope your dreams will come true when time is right. Brody's story (up next in the series) makes you wonder if it's going to be the girl who was in the wedding party or the mysterious girl in the barn that draws his attention.

Review: Taking Chances
Taking Chances by Laura Farr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the first book in the Healing Hearts series, but each book can be read as a standalone. This is Mason and Libby’s story. This story is about Taking Chances and moving forward after a loss. Libby’s BF, Mia had a tragic accident and Libby is having a tough time moving forward with her life, so she’s headed to Texas for some lake and horse therapy to become herself again. Mia’s name fits how Libby is feeling after Mia is gone (Missing in Action) and escaping the memories and guilt she feels over still being here while Mia isn’t.
She gets to spend time with her family that she hasn’t seen in a few years while learning how to be herself again. We meet Savannah, Brody and Josh who are her cousins and one cousin’s BF plus Mason who works on the Ranch for her family. Can I just say that those “sweethearts and “baby” moments from Mason made me swoon? Love Mason even with the past that tried to cause some trouble between these two. He was patient with Libby even in her PTSD moments and you can see the love he had for her. As you see events unfold you will be asking yourself if the move halfway across the world was the best or worst decision ever?? Read to find out cause these lips are sealed. What is funny though is that history repeats itself with her aunt Claire and Libby in a sort of kinda way and believe you’ll agree with me once you read the book.
The story is told from Libby’s POV and epilogue from Mason POV and while you’ll love the story I’d love more from Mason’s POV. I’m excited to see whose next in the series as this ranch is a place you want to visit if you could.

She
couldn’t take it anymore and started pushing me to get free from my grasp.
“Stop! I hate you, Damien! Do you hear me? I fucking hate you!” she yelled over
and over again, aching to make herself and me believe it.
My heart
broke.
My fingers
twitched.
And tears
threatened to surface.
However, I
wouldn’t let up and just kept caressing her, kissing her, whispering that I
loved her. Battling her hateful words with my loving ones. I could feel she was
reaching her breaking point, as much as she could. Her wrist suddenly slipped
through my grip and she shoved me with so much force that she was able to slap
me across the face. Going full speed to do it again, but I intervened by
grabbing her forearm, pinning her to the blanket. Locking down her petite frame
with my flawed heart and beaten body.
She laid
there beneath me, panting profusely, emotionally and physically consumed with
tears cascading down the sides of her face. For a moment, I allowed her to take
my breath away. In my eyes, she’d never looked so fucking beautiful.
So goddamn
breathtaking.
So fucking
mine…
I leaned
forward and kissed away all her tears, tasting her nightmares, her memories,
her love and hatred for me. Tenderly kissing my way to her lips while her body
continued to shudder from my intense, overpowering love. Overwhelming her
emotions and overriding her thoughts the way only I could ever do. Before
another second slipped by, I kissed her for all the years I didn’t, for all the
times I couldn’t, for all the moments I so desperately wanted to. Losing myself
in her. Almost like I was trying to kiss the agony and pain I caused right out
of her. Wanting to hold her tormented burdens, inflicted solely by my mistakes
and regrets.

A stand-alone romance novel in the Rebel series – a Redemption series spin-off
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Molly McAdams delivers the first captivating, stand-alone novel in her REDEMPTION series spin-off—the REBEL series . . .
I’m not the kind of girl you forget.
I wish I was.
I wish I was normal.
That I could blend into a crowd. Have a future with the man I’ve loved my entire life…
Maxon James understands me in a way others can’t.
For as long as I can remember, he’s vowed that one day he would claim my wild, rebel heart. God knows I wanted him to try. I wanted the life he promised me in his lyrics.
But his assurances couldn’t change the past, and the infamous mafia blood in my veins guarantees my heart can’t be claimed.
Somewhere along the way, I slipped. I let myself believe we could have it all. Now a dark, menacing shadow hovers between us, mocking us for daring to hope for a normal future.
And it’s come to collect on a blood oath.
My name’s Elizabeth Borello—Libby for short. Don’t worry about forgetting it… He hasn’t.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

Title: Fools Rush In
Series: A Cartwright Brother Romance
Author: Lilliana Anderson
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 30, 2018
Before Sam, I was the most boring, awkward and level-headed person you’d ever met. I was my best friend's side-kick, the supporting actress to another person's life.
And I was OK like that.
I was lonely.
But I was OK.
Then he came along. Our eyes locked and BANG my heart started beating. As my blood warmed and pumped around my body, everything changed. Before that moment, I had been as dead inside as my mortuary ‘clients’.
Now I was alive, experiencing things for the first time, enamoured with a man I knew to be a criminal.
Instead of running and remaining the good Christian girl I was, I married him.
Now, I had to live with the consequences of that decision.
Bestselling Author of the Beautiful Series, Drawn and 47 Things, Lilliana has always loved to read and write, considering it the best form of escapism that the world has to offer.
Australian born and bred, she writes New Adult Romance revolving around her authentically Aussie characters with all the quirks you’d expect from those born Down Under.
Lilliana feels that the world should see Australia for more than just it's outback and tries to show characters in a city and suburban setting.
When she isn't writing, she wears the hat of 'wife and mother' to her husband and four children.
Before Lilliana turned to writing, she worked in a variety of industries and studied humanities and communications before transferring to commerce/law at university.
Originally from Sydney's Western suburbs, she currently lives a fairly quiet life in suburban Melbourne.
