Author Bio

Michelle Mankin is the New York Times bestselling author of the Black Cat Records series of novels.

Rock Stars. Romance. Redemption.

Love Evolution, Love Revolution, and Love Resolution are a BRUTAL STRENGTH centered trilogy, combining the plot underpinnings of Shakespeare with the drama, excitement, and indisputable sexiness of the rock 'n roll industry.

Things take a bit of an edgier, once upon a time turn with the TEMPEST series. These pierced, tatted, and troubled Seattle rockers are young and on the cusp of making it big, but with serious obstacles to overcome that may prevent them from ever getting there.

Rock stars, myths, and legends collide with paranormal romance in a totally mesmerizing way in the MAGIC series.

Catch the perfect wave with irresistible surfers in the ROCK STARS, SURF AND SECOND CHANCES series.

Romance and self-discovery, the FINDING ME series is a Tempest spin off with a more experienced but familiar cast of characters.

Exploring the sexual double standards for women, the ROCK F*CK CLUB series is a what-if the groupies called the shots instead of the rock stars.

When Michelle is not prowling the streets of her Texas town listening to her rock or NOLA funk music much too loud, she is putting her daydreams down on paper or traveling the world with her family and friends, sometimes for real, and sometimes just for pretend.

Blogs Review

Oceanside is book three in the Rock Stars, Surf and Second Chances series and Tomorrow Today pretty much sums up the story even though it was a dedication to her mother as it gives you past encounters and today encounters for Ashland and Fanny with the added suspense of events that lead Lakers Girl back to the Dirt Dogs.
Read book one not two and each are to be a standalone. In book one we had some questions on certain topics and secondary characters but didn't get answers so we could only assume it would be either discussed in next book or its own book. Skip to book 3 and Patch comes up again, it's like your missing pieces still if you don't read books in order. This book deals with events prior to book one characters story and guess that's why it's a standalone as it leads up to the band's destruction then it leads into where all the characters are now. Yes, we finally got answers to the Ash/Linc/Mona topic in book one so this is a huge plus for those of us who read book one. I still need to go back and read book two as I think the Patch and Karen topic will be fully disclosed in that book based upon what I read in book one and this book. So I will say this if you read the books out of order you will be fine reading the story about the secondary characters, but if you skip a book it will drive you a little batty since you know that there is a topic that you need the blanks filled in on and you need that book to fill those blanks to make this standalone series complete. While you can easily relate to the secondary characters if you only chose to read this book, the ties to Ash and his story and why he moves mountains for those he cares about and locked others away living the Rockstar life and why he craves control is present to make you enjoy the story, but I guess that is why I, like some others prefer to read standalone in a series in order to get the full effect and see any missing pieces to make the characters whole.
You will want to give Ash a hug when his secret is revealed and bravo to the author for writing about this topic. These men love to surf and while the Rockstar aspect has moved to better places like Oceanside this story is really about a second chance at life and then love. Fanny is opposite of Ash and while they briefly met some years back at the awards show, we get to see how caring and protective she is of her sister and what she gives to ensure they are safe. She’s a strong and brave woman when her story comes to light as a whole is how I will say this as to not give spoilers to the suspense of the story. Can I just say the best scene may just have been the surf board? Yes, I know which surfing time was this. Ha, not saying you shall read and find out. Best first ever!
You get to see how drastic life changes for Ash and Fanny and how fate plays into this when it comes to the Dirt Dogs Crew and the girls. Hollie for being so young is smart and can go the route of advertising if her career ever fails, just saying cause that was epic and spot on. Wow, I kinda thought Diesel had a lead into Holliewood based upon what we read, but it is to our disappointment that this was not true. Excited to see where this goes and if Diesel will ever get burned down a few notches with his attitude of one and done. You will fall in love with this family of Dirt Dogs and it gives hopes to others how the story is portrayed for others in this situation that Ash was placed in with his actions, but it just goes to show you that they can find love to with the right person, consequences and protection to get their HEA.
