BLOGS REVIEW

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it certainly will not be its last. In a mafia read we all expect drama, but I totally did not expect this side of a story told. We got to see a different side of the mafia and it was heartwarming and heart wrenching all at the same time.
Oh my the first few pages will leave you gasping and hope that it was a dream. Sadly it was not a dream. We meet Dante AKA Tick and the events that lead up to this gasp. Dante is not the same man after this tragic loss. He feels guilty like it is his fault, when its not. It took him many years of grieving to get over this hurdle. He gets a chance to do right when Cyma is saved by him literally. Fate was lucky he was able to run into her again after that.
Cyma has had a bad childhood, adult life and is struggling to stay strong for her daughter. Her ex, Ryan is beyond scum and should never be given the chance to pro-create after what he does. Cyma has low self esteem based upon how she was treated and when Dante becomes all alpha on her, it's hard for her to understand and grasp as she can't see what beauty he sees in her.
Dante and Cyma both had tragic events occur and they both healed each other. Dante was born a protector and the actions he takes with Cyma and Leila is awinspiring (not spelled wrong cause it causes an aw and inspires those who may experience this in life). While Anaya/Tony and his godson, Xavier helped him over the years, Cyma and Leila truly healed him after he knew that Kayla and Jr were just fine and ok with this.
The analogy of Second Tick and Second Dante are hilarious. It's like thing one and thing two; you never know which you are going to get until the mood strikes. lol. Gotta say that Brenda would be a perfect match for Magnum. Though I am still hoping that Manny gets blindsided and sees the relationship light. He's bound to get a wake up call soon.
The ending was finally some happy tears as we had some nail biting moments there with how this story was going to go. I will say to the author that even though this book was hard for you to write, I truly thank you for finishing this book as it was a read worth reading and leaves others who may have been placed in these situations with hope. While we know not all will have positive outcomes, those that do will cherish those moments so much more. A mafia must read (nothing gorgy so for those who can't handle, you will be fine reading this one) for those of you who enjoy these types of reads.

STEPSISTER. He hated that f*cking word.

When their parents got married, the only thing Caleb Luxan had in common with Wren Brashill was that they both hated their parents.

When he was sixteen, Caleb discovered Wren's closely guarded secret and vowed to protect her: from that day forward she became the reason for every decision he made.

Jealousy and long-suppressed desire overpowered Caleb's fierce protectiveness and they spent one forbidden and unforgettable night in each other arms, but the aftermath left Caleb panicked, Wren heartbroken, and their relationship in shambles. In the time since that fateful night, he’d only seen her once and had only managed to make the situation even worse.

The sudden death of his estranged father calls Caleb home and face-to-face with Wren for first time in years. He is presented with a choice that forces him to confront the painful memories of his youth and his many regrets with Wren.

Like it or not, his father's last, hard lesson, will demand Caleb deal with his long denied emotions for Wren, or let go of her forever.

Excerpt

Caleb’s muscled frame was rigid and as Wren looked at him, she studied his profile, and could feel his coiled tension.  The fingers in his right hand curled into a fist.  “I was so mad.  So many times, I wished he’d been the one to die.”  His voice was full of pain, as the words tore from him.  “I fucking hated him with every breath I took.  You saw how much.”
Wren nodded, though he didn’t see her acquiescence.  She knew what he went through growing up when they had formed an affable alliance against their parents.  She hated her mother at least as much as Caleb hated his father and she understood his anger and pain; then the apathy that became a welcome alternative.  They’d been unlikely allies against a common enemy.
“Maybe I deserved his indifference.”
Wren got up and went to Caleb, standing behind him as he stood still as stone, and staring out the window.  Her heart ached with love and grief for Caleb. She wanted to touch him; to offer reassurance, to take away the ache in his voice and heart.  Without considering her actions, her arms slipped around his waist and she pressed up against his strong back and leaned her head against him, between his shoulder blades.
Caleb was massive in comparison to her, and she was like a flower curling around him.  Her hands fanned out against his hard stomach, her fingers finding the definition of his abs beneath his shirt.   “Stop, Cale.  I won’t let you do this to yourself.  Your dad wouldn’t want that.  None of it was your fault.”  Her arms slid fully around him and held him tight against her body. “I can’t bear it.  You’ve had enough pain.  Enough.”
Caleb sucked in a deep breath, the action bringing her even closer.  He could feel every curve of her body pressed so closely against his back.  He could feel her breathing, could feel how she shared his pain.  His hand came up and he ran the flat of his hand from her elbow down to her hand, and then wrapped his fingers around hers.
“When did you turn into the strong one?”
Wren’s arms tightened around him.  “When I met you. ”
“Oh, Wren.” Should he just spill his guts? Would it fix everything?  “I’ve got so much to say to you.  How long can you stay?”
She nodded against him, unwilling to end the contact between their bodies; needing the closeness as much as he did.
He wanted to apologize for how he acted the last time he’d seen her, he wanted to say a hundred things… he needed her forgiveness.
“How long do you need me?”
In that moment a miracle happened; a sort of beautiful irony that taunted Caleb with it’s fragileness.  It was as if he’d never screwed everything up between them.  But would it stay this way?
How long do I need you? Caleb thought.  His heart raced to the point of exploding, and he wondered if Wren could feel it.
Forever.

I was born in the Midwestern United States and educated at a private university where I received a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Administration.
I've always been creative with art, music, theater and writing. I decided to write a story as a way to build a network for a business venture. The reader support of my stories and my overwhelming desire to find out where my characters would take me, soon had the writing morphing the business. No one was more shocked than I. When readers began nominating my work for online awards, it took my breath away and only made me love it more. It soon became clear that writing was, and should be, my focus.

BLOGS REVIEW

Wren is a young ballerina who works with the new York ballet company. She got some unfortunate news that brought her home to Colorado. Will she give into temptation or will she give up all hope of her happily ever after?
Caleb just got news his father passed away. Not that they got along very well when his father was alive. He came home for the funeral what he didn't know was he had a choice to make.
They were step siblings. Forbidden to each other. One night changed everything now will they be able to move on with their lives? This is a second chance romance. It was a well written book. I did enjoy it. I wish though that Wren was a little stronger as in she stood up for herself more.

Spencer Kaufman

When I signed on to the NHL, I promised to give 150% to the game. I’ve done that.

Little did I know, but they would ask more from me than merely my skill on the ice. The team wanted me to be their captain. It’s an honor, one I’ve done my best to fulfill. Although I can’t take all the credit, I was there to lead when we won the Stanley Cup.

I’m still at the helm now, when we’ve hit rock bottom. I know I have let my fears get in the way. I’ve let down the team, even if they don’t realize what I’ve done.

Now that the new season’s underway, I’m being called out. I deserve it. I can deal with that. It won’t be easy, but I’ll persevere.

What I can’t deal with is her.
She surprised me.
She came out of nowhere and blindsided me.

And there’s one serious issue.

Now that I have her, I refuse to let her go.

*This is a full-length, standalone novel. It is part of the Austin Arrows series, but can be read independently.

The SEASON: Kaufman (Austin Arrows, 2) Chapter 1

Noelle
Thursday, October 6th

“I MADE AN EXTRA CHICKEN breast. You want one or two?” I chuckle, can’t help it. “Seriously. One or two? Can I possibly ask a dumber question?”
That unladylike snort … yeah, that was me.

While I fork my chicken breast onto my own plate, I don’t bother waiting for a response. I know what the answer will be. Two. Always two. Extra protein is never a bad thing.

After adding a heaping spoonful of steamed vegetables to my plate, I grab my wineglass and head to the table. I’m starving because I missed lunch today. That sometimes happens with my job. There are days that’ll go by when I’m bored to tears, standing behind the bar, and others when I can hardly stop long enough to take a breath. Sometimes I’ll snag some fried pickles if I get a chance. Today was the lack-of-breath kind of day. Go, go, go. All day long.

As I step out of my small galley kitchen, a knock sounds on my door. My bare feet squeak on the linoleum as I come to an abrupt halt. I manage to do that fancy lift and tilt thing to keep my wine from sloshing over the edge.

Disaster averted.

“Noelle! Honey, it’s Mom and Dad!”

Or not.

“Crap, crap, crap.” I glance between my front door and the small, two-seat table in my breakfast nook currently set up with, nope, not one but two place settings. For the record, two is not a good number when the single girl’s mom comes banging on the door.

“Open up, Noelle! We thought we’d surprise you!”

Okay, well, I have to say my parents definitely accomplished their goal, because I am completely befuddled as I stand here debating what I should do. To a normal person, it might be a no-brainer. Open the door, let the ’rents come on in.

I’m not so sure this situation is going to qualify me as normal.

To answer or not to answer? That is the question.

On the other hand, I could be as quiet as possible and pretend I’m not home. Which, with my luck, won’t work. The fact that all the lights in my apartment are blazing and my baby blue Prius is parked directly in front of my window doesn’t help my cause any. Since no one else in the world drives a baby blue Prius, I can’t very well hide it.

Crap.

But I could’ve gone out with friends, right? Could I be so lucky that they’d think that? It is a possibility. Maybe. Or, better yet, maybe they’ll think I’m at the Penalty Box. I tend to work a lot.

Yes, that’s definitely more logical.

Except, yep, you nailed it, the car is here.

Then again, if I weren’t so pathetic and didn’t choose to spend all my free time at home—unless I’m at my best friend Ellie’s—it might be an easier sell. They know me. I’m not the going-out type. Plus, they’ve probably already stopped by the bar to see if I’m there. They know that I much prefer a microwaved dinner at home, especially on a rare evening that I don’t spend waiting tables and slinging beer because I choose to.

Another knock makes my heart skip a beat.

“Stay calm. It’s cool.” I’ve been telling myself that far too much lately.

“Noelle! Are you all right, honey?”

Knowing my grumpy upstairs neighbor is likely going to have a cow any second now, I rush to the front door, unlock the deadbolt, and turn the knob. Instantly, Marie Dexter barrels into me, pulling me into her arms, crushing my face to her generous bosom.

My mother smells like roses. A sweet, familiar scent that makes me hug her back, despite the inconvenient timing of her arrival.
“Hi, Mom,” I say, my words muffled against her boobs.

She pulls back to look at me. “What took you so long? I was getting worried.”

My dad slips past my mother, giving me a knowing smirk. Ed Dexter loves when Marie goes all motherly on me. Come to find out, when my sister and I aren’t around, he gets to be the one Marie mothers. Not that he minds. They’ve been married for thirty-six years, so he’s used to it, or so he says.

“Ooh. You got new curtains.” My mother gently pulls away to admire the floor-to-ceiling cream sheers hanging on the wide front window.
I follow her gaze, glaring at my car sitting right there. Traitor.

I focus on the comforting hand my mother has on my arm. Always keeping me close, that woman.
I’m the oldest—my sister, Julie, who is seven years younger than me, was an oops baby—which should’ve meant my mother didn’t coddle me quite so much. That isn’t the case. Never has been. I’m not sure if it’s because there’s such a huge age gap between me and Julie, but whatever the reason, my mother likes to baby both of us equally. I’m thirty-four. You’d think she would’ve toned it down by now. Nope. In fact, I think she might be getting more motherly.

Honestly, she’s been this way since I was little. And, truthfully, I was the normal kid. The kind who wanted to do nothing more than be outside. Yep, totally me. Right up until sixth grade, when we moved to Austin, next door to the girl who would quickly become my best friend in the world. Either there was something in the Texas water or someone injected me with a doofus hormone, because upon moving here, I became stupid, which translates to: boy crazy. I think my mother worried about me more then. That lasted about two years. Three tops. When it became glaringly obvious that Tony Something-or-other wasn’t going to fall madly in love with the short, frumpy girl with glasses and braces, I decided to focus on my schoolwork and left the flirting with boys up to my best friend, Ellie. She was much better at it than me.

Luckily, I’m not so frumpy anymore, and I’ve shed the braces and glasses. Sure, I’m still short, and my boobs never did really develop, but that no longer bothers me. I’m me. That’s what matters.

What does bother me is the fact that Mom and Dad pop in unannounced all the freaking time. Of all nights, why did it have to be now?

Noelle is half owner of The Penalty Box a popular sports bar in Austin. She is a believer of the Universe! It's been her secret for a long time. She's made space in her life for a man so the universe will hear her and bring her a man. She's known Spencer for a long time. I love her personality! She is also kinky! Love it.
Spencer is the captain of the Austin Arrows. As the captain he had some obligations he doesn't like to go to. He has a secret of his own. He's super sexy and knows a lot of kinky stuff.
These two are a match made in heaven. Loved this story from start to end. There was so much love and funny bits. It runs parallel to the first book so you get to see Ellie's and Kingston's problems from Noelle and Spencer pov. It was well written. I can't wait to see who's next!

“I’m Violet Cole, quiet and unassuming. It would shock most that my nights are filled with dark elaborate fantasies. I never thought they’d come to life until I opened the door to Adam Stone. Excerpt :  MATURE CONTENT

He says, “Do you want me to show you around the club? The band won’t come on for another half hour and our table is reserved.”
“Sure, show me around.” He takes my hand and we walk back to the elevator. He pulls out a key card and inserts it in a slot and presses the up button. When the doors open, we get out and walk hand in hand down one of the hallways. He uses the key card again and opens a door into what I quickly realize is a boardroom. In the middle of the room is a large mahogany boardroom table with twelve high back executive leather chairs around it. Adam closes the door and brings me into him for a kiss. I don’t think showing me around is what he really has in mind. I suddenly feel a pulsating tingle shoot up from my vagina.
As I watch him move a chair from the head of the table, I can feel my heart beating faster with anticipation. He stands in front of me and gently pushes me backward until I can feel the table against my bum. His hands slide along my outer thighs moving my dress upward and then he pulls my panties part way down. I feel my legs begin to tremble, as desire begins to rise in me combined with curiosity. Without any notice, Adam lifts me up onto the long boardroom table and places me right at the very edge of it. I can feel the smooth wood against my bare bum. He slides my panties off and throws them on the table. Spreading my legs apart he stands between them.
“What if someone walks in?” I say, feeling shy all of a sudden.
“Violet, I want you now, very much. Do you really want me to stop?” His eyes seem ravenous when he looks at me. My own darker desires take over; I can’t control myself. I feel Adam is about to take care of that.
I manage to whisper, “No, please don’t stop.”
He grins and firmly taps the end of my nose with his finger and says, “No more talking, only moaning.” Another hot, searing shot runs up my lower region. We are so close that I can feel his breath on my face. He takes his hand and lifts my chin upward forcing me to look into his dark blue eyes. There is a demanding and lustful look in those eyes. He says with that voice, “You said I controlled the boardroom, well, I am going to show you now that is very true.” I am beguiled by his eyes and his words. I swallow hard and can feel my heart beating even faster now.
He puts his hand on my throat and pulls me in close to kiss him; his tongue finds mine and we begin to explore. When he’s had enough, he stops, looks at me, and then slides his hand down my throat stopping in the middle of my chest. He can feel my heart pounding and a slight grin comes across his lips. I believe he is about to wield his power over me now. His other hand slides down in between my thighs. When he touches me, I moan and fling my head back. He grabs the back of my head forcing me to face him again and then slowly inserts his thumb inside of me while watching my face as he does. “Ahh” I cry out as he begins to move it around. It feels amazing and sends a series of volcanic eruptions through me.
Before I know it, he halts my moans when he puts his ‘essence of Violet’ thumb in my mouth. He commands, “Suck.” I obey and do so eagerly. He quickly inserts his other thumb inside of me. I moan again, as what he is doing to me in both places is absolutely spellbinding. He watches me suck his thumb as he wiggles and pushes his other thumb up inside of me. I groan loudly. When I think my delights have reached their summit, he slides his lubricated thumb from my vagina to my clitoris, while inserting a finger to replace his thumb. Oh, my! He is now stimulating me in three places! He’s a magician; I feel his fingers working their magic through my entire body…..

BLOGS REVIEW

Amazing debut novel by this author!! Let me just start out by saving too funny on how this book got its title. I would die of embarrassment if this happened to me with a hot alpha guy (oh this happened to me just not like this, I got a crazy "what are you a blonde look" and he was old and not attractive haha).
We meet, Violet who has a hap stance run with Mr. Stone though she does not know this yet. After many weeks they meet again and begin a start of something new for both of them. Violet who has a secret to bear and Adam (AKA Mr. Stone) who doesn't do relationships per say and keeps a girl at most under six months. The first weekend spent together is beyond amazing for both of them (lucky her cause it could have been a horrible experience). They pursue a go at just being together. Violet will take what she can get at this time with Mr. Stone. Though the one secret was discovered there is still one big one she keeps mum on until the time is right. When is the time you say? Well read on and discover when she has to up her anty and show him just what her secret was and how she can be who he needs.
Let's just say that this book is beyond panty melting and that wink alone he gives her will have you checking down under. lol We meet, Gia and her prince as well in this story. Gia and the prince are the yin to the yang for Violet and Adam is how you can think of them. You will hit many stones reading this-whether it be a door, a body or hard head it ness on both of them, but so worth the stone being thrown your way. You will feel tipsy from all the wine and wet from the passion that is between Violet and Adam. You will panic towards the end trust me on where this may go and no no it cannot end just yet. I need to get my hands on book two to see what transpires. For those of you who may not like being left wondering what transpires you may want to purchase both books at one time so you can dive right into the next book. This book is definitely a book recommended for 2016 to be read or any year in the future really. You will not be disappointed. We all need a Mr. Stone in our life. This story was on fire the whole time.

Inspiration for Family Fortune was drawn from stories told to me by Mrs. Dunn before she passed away about the old girl’s academy down the street and one of the teachers there from back in the 1800s whose father didn’t want her to teach and about stories about teachers in the 1910s and 1920s who were forced to quit teaching because they got married. Mrs. Dunn herself was a school teacher and when the Great Depression hit, she moved school desks into her living room and continued to teach, as a married woman (Gasp, shock, oh the horror!) so the children wouldn’t be behind in their education.

Excerpt

He was interrupted by the sound of a convertible pulling into the space next to us. The speakers were blaring some kind of racket that made my brain feel like I was going to have a seizure.

Some guy folded out from behind the wheel and Dirt nearly choked on his chew at the sight of him.

He looked like an asshole with his pink sweater folded over his shoulders and one of those polo shirts that looked like it belonged to a rowing club. When he rounded the hood of the car, Fun Bobby’s upper lip curled in disgust. I fought back a grin. This ass hat was wearing loafers.

“Morning, baby girl.” Glitch hollered over the sound of the car stereo.

I let my eyes follow his and land on her blonde hair in the passenger seat. It was light, almost white in the sun and so long it fell well past her shoulders.

The loafer guy held open her door and long legs stretched into my line of vision. She wore those cut of jean shorts, the kind a girl in a country song would wear, but hers were more tasteful, covering the round curves of her ass completely but not hiding them either.

Stretched over her chest was the token white volunteer shirt, she was here to work.

When she stood in front of him, she slung a backpack over her shoulder and waved in our direction.

If you’d ever seen an angel after a bad dream, it felt like that in the air when she smiled.

He pulled her into his chest by her upper arm and dove into her mouth.

My chest rumbled and Glitch widened his eyes in my direction.

I hadn’t seen or felt a woman since I was a teenager and it almost hurt my heart to look at her. She was the picture of all the years that I gave away. She was a breathing memory of everything I missed out on.

Stuffing my hands in my pockets, I let loafers live his dream against her lips.

What did I have against the puke anyway? Let him be happy.

BLOGS REVIEW
Aurora is the sweetest girl! She has what her family calls a big heart. She doesn't like that her family and friends say that. She thinks it's a burden. Aurora is kind, gentle and is generally amazing to be around. She falls for the bad guy at the stables...will she be able to survive?
Rhys is a young gentleman who ended up in prison at a young age because of some bikers. His young adult years were taken away from him. Will he find a second chance at life or will he not take this chance?
I liked this book. It was super sad and had a little excitement at towards the end. I wanted to like this book as much as I did the others but sadly it wasn't my favorite. I liked the story of second chances. It was a good book. I feel like there should be another book featuring them as a couple a little further down the road. Where we can see them a little happier and as a couple. 4 stars
