I’m forty, flabby, and frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, I have a good home, a decent job, and great children. I had a loving marriage for twenty years where we had our ups and downs. It wasn’t perfect; but it wasn’t awful. Then he died.
After the grief took its course, and the reality of my life set in, I grew frustrated. It wasn’t the bills or the struggle to keep my interest in my work. It was life without a man – the only man I’d been with for twenty years. And before you go all feminist on me, it isn’t that I can’t be an independent woman, but there are certain areas where a man is necessary.
You need a fuck buddy, my friend said.
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Is it friends with benefits?, I asked.
Better, you don’t even have to be friends, she offered.
Boy, did I need an education in the modern workings of dating, and sex.

Finally a book about an older couple and not stick thin women! Don't get me wrong, Emme, wasn't fat, but she had some excess flab that made her self conscious. This book made me laugh cause if this would happen to me and my spouse passed away I would totally feel just like she did. I always tell the hubby, I honestly don't even know if I would know how to date if I had too.
Boy are we in for an education on sex and both M.E.'s are destined to be together after all is said and done. I would die of embarrassment with some of things that occurred with Emme. Gotta say I loved her BF, Gia, but I would sink her in a pool with some of the stuff she pulled to get Emme out there dating.
Emme is struggling to get back in the dating world after the death of her husband and Merek thinks he can be that man. Merek may be hot and goes with those in their 20's, but there is something about Emme that pulls him to her. Oh, Merek your little twist there was not expected. Double shocker is the best I can say as to not spoil anything.
I totally love what the their kids do though, it was nice, sweet and funny all at one time. Love reading books that are based on Chicago neighborhoods. This is definitely a book worth reading!
