The Fragile Fall by Kristy Love
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my the prologue hooks you from the beginning and throughout the whole book you feel the heart wrenching ache for Will, Ryanne and Jax. I must say that I think the fact that this dealt with a boy experiencing these types of issues made the book so much better. Typically we see a girl experiencing this and a boy helping the girl heal. This book dealt with a boy going through a very traumatic experience and trying to overcome this obstacle and the girl helping him.
Will was lead in a very sheltered life. He was home schooled and his parents didn't allow him to have friends with a select few from church. Will's world comes crashing down when he defies his parents. He is uprooted to the only family he has left, being his aunt Liz. We all need an aunt Liz as she was always there for all three of those kids and didn't have to be especially since two were just neighbors. He stays holed up in his room until one day he looks out his window at the neighbor, Ryanne hanging by the pool with her friends. For whatever reason, Ryanne looked up and got him to come outside. This led to a friendship with Ryanne, her brother Jax and her friends.
Ryanne is one strong girl. She had to deal with raising her brother at the age of four due to her absent mom and then father who made an appearance as he pleased. I would really like to smack the dad, what is wrong with you both times as they were kids and then again when they became of age.
Will had a struggling battle with the loss of his parents, adjusting to a school and overcoming his guilt. The connection that he had with Ryanne was not an easy task for him to feel since he was so sheltered. I am so glad that Ryanne and Jax intervened when they did. Oh my, heart was in my throat.
You will laugh, cry and can only imagine what others who had to experience these issues felt. These are very sensitive topics, but real topics that makes us open our eyes to what others go through trying to overcome these issues. I would highly recommend this book to others. I can't wait to read, Jax's story.
