Review: The Off-Season

The Off-Season The Off-Season by Megan Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Washington Rampage series and each will be able to be read as a standalone. Ever wonder what ball players do in the Off-Season? Sure do! Well in Ian “Tag” Taggart’s case this may be his last season if he cannot prove that he’s innocent of sexual assault. Yes, I hear you already! They all say they are “innocent” well in Tags case he is (and no this was not a spoiler it is in the synopsis). So, he heads to Maple Lake for some R & R, but what he doesn’t expect to find is a neighbor who comes off rude, really, she isn’t and determined to fix the shack herself that she just purchased. Lexi is a spitfire and though there were some funny parts in this story the road scene was hilarious and crazy all at once. What she was thinking we still don’t know! Ian just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Ian becomes his true self why in Maple Lake and he doesn’t let his stardom takeover. I think he needed this break truly to redeem himself not only as a person, but as a team player to keep his head in the game. Lexi and Ian are like vinegar and oil, but this also keeps them from boredom and keeps things spicy is how I will best state this. We meet Liv, Lexi’s friend and Brandon, Ian’s teammate and whose house he is crashing. There’s something brewing between these two. Call it a one-night stand, a friendship or enemies, but I hope that they are next to get a story. Cause let’s face it! It would be awesome sauce to knock Brandon down a peg or two. He’s cocky and funny, he’s known as the “Cleanup” guy on the team to help them win, but he needs to “Cleanup” his act off the field too! This was a great story to begin the series with.
