Rhys Rivera is the star short-stop for the Longview Lumberjacks. Many know him, even more love him. He has a pretty face, a quick smile, and an air of danger about him that everyone seems to adore.
He’s not known as the bad boy of baseball for nothing.
It all started with his father, who decided to be a criminal mob boss, then die.
Fortunately for his uncle, Rhys wants absolutely nothing to do with the family business and runs before anyone can figure out which way is up.
By the time his uncle, the successor to his father’s criminal empire, thinks to look for him, Rhys has made too big of a name for himself to be taken out quietly, and he wants to keep it that way.
Fast forward eight years, and Rhys is living life one breath at a time, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That shoe coming in the form of a nosy neighbor who has no idea just how hot she is in her mail carrier uniform.
Her sweet little body and positive outlook on life make him want to laugh at how naïve she is when it comes to the way of the world.
The harder he tries to stay away, the weaker he seems to get, until one day he decides to put his morals on hold long enough to satisfy his cravings.
One time is all he needs—or so he tells himself.
But then two pink lines change everything, and all of a sudden, he doesn’t have just himself to worry about anymore.
HOSTED BY:
Listen Pitch is the third book in the There’s No Crying in Baseball series and each can be read as a standalone, but who wouldn’t want to read about these Texas Lumberjacks men and watch them fall to their knees when it comes to these women who drive them batty, but they can’t stay away from either. You will see Rhys and Henley make a cameo appearance in some of Lani’s other books so if you have read her other books in this series or one in the Simple Man series (even Bear Bottom) than you kinda have an idea of how they are, in reality, we don’t know Jack! Wowzer! Is what I’ll say. Grab this book if you are a fan of Lani, if you enjoy baseball and some mafia madness.
Rhys is known as the bad boy in baseball and comes from a bad family. He wants nothing to do with that life and thinks he left it all behind him. Well maybe, maybe not. You will have to read the story to find out. You will fall in love with him and your heart will melt when it comes to a scene with his security guard and Henley. Trust me on this! Speaking of Henley, can I say that I love that we got a character like this. This shows us that anyone can be loved and that there are still people out there who see what’s inside the person not just on the outside. The danger, the chemistry, men in tight pants and the story in itself hooks you and leaves you yearning for more of these characters. Pink lines, mob lines, foul lines you name it we got it in this book! I will continue to say this, there is not a book that you will not love by this author and I cannot wait to see with she takes her next story and series.
