Show Me the Way is the first in the Fight for Me series and we find out that fate has a way to show Rex and Rynna that although they come from different backgrounds, their past is closer than they realize. This story is emotional and has you laughing one minute, crying the next and then saying oh you! sneaky girl. You will see that the town of Gingham Lakes knows Corinne Dayne AKA Gramma Dayne for Pepper’s Pie, but not only was she there for her granddaughter, Rynna growing up she was there for Rex and “Sweet Pea” Frankie Leigh and both didn’t realize it for a while until the time was right for their second chance at life and love.
Rynna left town so fast when she was younger due to the bullies in town and she never thought she would be back. That all changes when Gramma leaves her the shop and house. Her only regret is not coming home sooner for her Gramma. Her BF, Macy is the push she needs to deal with coming home. While it isn’t easy being back home and running into her past and finding a way to live on the legacy of Pepper’s Pie we see that cruel doesn’t always destroy you, it only makes you stronger. You shall see after your throat leaves your heart is all I will say as to not leave any spoilers.
Rex a single father to Frankie Leigh, focuses on his construction company and his daughter. He shuts himself out emotionally and doesn’t believe he needs anyone but those two things. He couldn’t be more wrong. While Rynna tries to be the friendly neighbor to Rex, he is not making it easy, but leave it to little Sweet Pea to make it easier for these two to bond. She loves that even though Gramma Dayne is gone that Rynna has her secrets to making those yummy pies they love.
They may think they have nothing in common, but they do and as it all comes to light you will see FIRE in your eyes and be chanting, “NO, NO!” Fate can be cruel at times and it can be loving at the same time. It may not make sense at first, but in the end, it does. “Little Thief” can be taken in more than one way. It can mean that the past that ties to both Rex and Rynna stole many years and happiness from both or it can mean that Rynna was the one to finally break Rex and show him that being happy is OK and you can love again!
Besides the emotional rollercoaster we endure in this story, we get some suspense and meet some intriguing secondary characters that we cannot wait to read about.   One of the things I love is that this story was kinda role reversal. Meaning we typically see a single mother with a kid and a man coming into play; here we got the single dad with a woman coming into play. I love reading single dad stories and this sure stole your heart, like “Little Thief” and “Sweet Pea” did. Two broken people led by fate and leaves you hungry for some pie in the end. Your path is not chosen and it leads the bad with the good. You will not be able to put this book down and I am excited to read more on the upcoming Fight for Me series.
