Living in Nashville with his daughter, Katelyn, single dad Derrick Collins’s main goal is to provide a good life for his daughter. With no social life to speak of, he knows it’s time for a change. He just needs to find the perfect woman who will complete his happy family. The problem is he’s already met her and let her go.

Mary Jane Evans’s life took a path she could only dream of. Though leaving her home in Nashville meant saying goodbye to childhood friends, family, and the first man she ever loved. Now she has to choose if she will return or continue her new journey.

With a decision to make, is it possible for two lost loves to find their way back to each other or are there too many curves in the road?

This may be book two in the devotion series, but each book could be read as a standalone. You will see the characters from the other books though and while it makes you happy to see them again, it also makes you want to go back and read the book again. This book is about Derrick, Ashton’s brother and MJ (Mary Jane) who is Ashton’s wife and MJ’s BF, Gracie. Although we get to see Princess Cameron and Gavin again and it is awesome. While both books provide a full story on these two, I am still holding out hope that they get their own book cause there are many topics that they are dealing with and others can easily relate to. You will laugh at Cam and wish you had a BF like him, trust me.
Derrick is a single father to Katelyn (or Katie-Cat as MJ calls her) and she is first always so he doesn’t date. First off, before I can continue my review can I just say BRAVO to Derrick for taking on such a huge responsibility being a teenager. This will make you love him before you even meet him. You will tear up a few times especially when Katelyn gets a project at school. He is in a pickle when Ashton ends up in the hospital and Gracie offers MJ to babysit Katelyn at the park while Derrick goes to the hospital. Never did he expect to want to know more about MJ until he saw her and then how she interacted with his daughter. There was an insta-bond between those two girls.
MJ you have a heart of gold and I love that you are not stick thin cause curvy woman need love just like the twigs do. Haha The interactions between you and Katie-Cat are so loving and touching. You have met your first love and you have a big decision to make go towards your dream or stay in your home town. That’s a tough one! While exploring your dream, and having a heartbreak cause let’s face it long distance is hard especially when children are involved, you give a twist I or I am sure no one expected. OMG, gasp then wipe those eyes. This right there is why I say that Cam and Gavin need a book. We want the inside scoop on what they had to go through in their relationship to get to where they are.
Derrick finds out the truth about her BF and her secret and he has wanted nothing, but MJ for the past two years and he is going to have to work hard to show MJ it’s always been her and convince her to come back to Nashville when she is offered an extension on her dream job. The setup with Ashton and Katie-Cat is awesome cause the whole family/friends knew they belonged together it just took many Curves in the Road to get them to their HEA. This book is about hope, love and takes you on a journey showing you that no road or relationship is going to be a straight road, without the bumps and curves life would be dull. You will fall in love with Derrick, MJ, Katelyn and then some. I look forward to the next Devotion series book cause each journey takes us on a road trip and gives us a memory to remember as well as learning to not take life for granted. Being told from a dual POV makes the journey so much more emotional and leaves you satisfied knowing we got to experience both sides of the story and that your destination in this journey was meant to be your HEA.
