Losing the man she loved to a terrible accident, pushes Amy Flanders into a life of independence. Her only source of comfort is her work—a business dedicated to the care and training of horses. Until one lonely night leads her into the arms of Brock Baisdin. A man who fulfills her deepest desires and reignites a flame long forgotten.
Between his picky tastes and running his own business, Brock Baisdin has little time for women, but that doesn't stop him from looking for love. After saving Amy from a cancelled date, Brock is instantly drawn to the shy and beautiful woman hiding secrets beneath her lust-filled baby blues—secrets he finds himself eager to discover. Undeniable attraction pulls them into each other's arms. Hope draws them into each other's lives. For Amy Flanders, Brock Baisdin may be the man to bring love back into her lonely life, if only she can overcome the wounds of her past and face her biggest fear—risking the pain of another shattered heart.
Betty Shreffler is a self-proclaimed nerd and nature enthusiast obsessed with folklore, photography, writing, reading, movies, board games, hiking, gardening and spending time with her husband and five fur babies. Not necessarily in that exact order though. During her outdoor adventures she's been face to face with an alligator, a bear and a coyote, making for some of the most memorable experiences of her life. She loves to capture and share the world's beauty through the lens of her beloved Nikon camera. Her work experience has been diverse from working as a Ranger for the National Park Service to management positions in Fortune 500 companies. She’s lived in four different states and moved homes twelve times. She received a BA in organizational management and minor in sociology, although her heart has always belonged to writing and photography. Growing up, she read romance or supernatural novels and jotted down poems and short stories to express her emotions and alleviate the characters' voices in her head. Not much has changed, only now her stories are lengthier and her characters more interesting.

Holy heartbreaker this book was emotional, HOT and healing all in one sitting! Forget the Fire on the Farm, the Fire between Brock and Amy was just as intense. Can I just say that I would love to visit Heartbreak Lake or the Handlers Ranch (Farm) cause those places sound so peaceful and relaxing for us city gals.
Ames experiences a devastating loss and has to figure out how to go on without her other half. Though she struggles with depression after her loss, her family and co-workers are her sounding board and help pull her from the darkness. Two years have past and Ames still hides out out her ranch. Healing the horses is her passion, but she needs time for her.  For whatever reason, it was meant for her to be stood up by her co-worker to meet Brock.
Brock has no time for women and has a successful business. This all changes the night he meets Amy. There is something pulling him to her. He knows she is struggling with something and when it comes to light he wants to be the one to put that smile on her face. Cause let's face it, it is time to move on. Guilt and all, but Darrell would have wanted her to be happy. Just when things are moving smoothly and it looks like Amy is going to get her second chance at being whole again she gets knocked out!! Let's just say, it takes me a lot to despise someone and when you read this you can guarantee you will want to throttle someone. Brock is forgiving cause I am not certain I would ever be speaking again to someone. As if this story doesn't have you in tears most of the book and just when they start to dry you start tearing up again.
You will want to read this book in one sitting so prepare time to sit and curl up with a blanket cause you may need to cuddle it or use it to dry your tears when your tissues are gone. I would love to cuddle with Brock, cause if he looks anything like that cover, whew fans oneself he is HOT and his character definitely sounds HOT in our minds. Brock can throw me on a pool table and drop the cowboy hat on my head anytime to claim me, just saying. Kidding cause you belong with Ames. You two were meant to meet when you did and get a second chance at love. You will feel the emotions, the guilt and the love reading this book, but in the end you will see that it OK to mourn the loss and then be happy and move on with life.
This was my first book by this author and it won't be the last. Hoping that Heather gets a story or maybe Jared so that we can see Amy and Brock again. The country never looked so appealing to me until you imagine this place.
